while standing along Fremont Street waiting for the 100 or so vehicle motorcade escorting the body of SPC Chris Talbert back home.
- The American flag is beautiful, especially hundreds of them waving in the breeze.
- Despite the rush and pulse of life there are people who really will pause long enough to show they care.
- Military families, regardless of their branch of service, are all connected.
- Complete silence in large crowds is awe-inspiring.
- I can’t imagine myself in Mr. & Mrs. Talbert’s shoes. I hope I never can.
- What do people in uniform really think when they see one of their own in a box?
- What’s going through the mind of my son, the one who’s leaving for boot camp in three weeks?
- How did I – peacekeeper, diplomat, hater of conflict – raise warriors for sons?
- Is it worth it?
- I love my community.
- Why?
- No parent should have to bury their child.

Oh, I missed this post, somehow.
I can't imagine what those parents are experiencing.
It must be more poignant--more something--for you b/c of your sons' being in the military.

I passed your good words on to my daughter. Thanks for them. As for the comment here, you're right, war deaths put the world in a whole other perspective for military families I think. I'm glad that the price of this war has not been my son (or daughter), but I'm sorry that it's been so many others.
Take care. Glad you found me on Facebook.
